BASIC SKILLS AWARD

In Leys Junior School we have commitment to a continuing improvement in the basic skills of the  children in this school.

HEALTHY SCHOOLS AWARD

PSHCE is a timetabled session used to discuss issues relating to relationships, citizenship and  health. The children have an opportunity to have an input into Pupil Parliament meetings, which  are  held weekly. We also have school milk available to all children.

ARTS MARK

An Artsmark at any level shows that a school is committed to the wider development of young people  and to ensure that every child and young person has the opportunity to experience the richness of the  arts.

ECO SCHOOL

Children are the driving force behind  Eco-Schools - they lead the eco-committee and help carry out  an audit to assess the environment performance of their school. The school has been accredited the  Bronze Award.

ACTIVE MARK

Active Mark is a Charter mark award dedicated to PE. It recognises progress and excellence in the  subject. To achieve this award, our school was assessed against strict criteria: Staff development; a  broad and balanced curriculum; out of school hours clubs; appropriate policies and schemes of work.  This means that the children that attend our school are assured an extremely high quality PE  curriculum that brings out the best in them and nurtures their talents.

ABC ANTI-BULLYING AWARD

This is a Derbyshire initiative which rewarded schools who show a commitment to reducing  bullying in schools.

MODESHIFT STARS - THE NATIONAL SCHOOL TRAVEL AWARDS

Awarded to schools who demonstrate a commitment for their efforts to increase levels of walking, cycling and other forms of sustainable transport on the journey to and from school.
